Amanda, 2017

It all started in 2017…

The Counseling Collective was born from my needs as a mother with a young family at home. I wanted to be able to set my own hours, see the kinds of clients I felt I did my best work with, and create something that was my own. I had worked for a local agency for years, where I received supervision for my LPC. I met and worked with so many fantastic clinicians and valuable mentors and participated in group supervisions. It was when I saw a colleague open their own practice that I felt like inspired to do the same. With my husband’s support and encouragement, TCC opened in 2017. In the beginning, I stayed up all hours of the night creating a template for the website, drafting website copy, writing blogs, and starting social media channels. As the practice grew, I hit a point where I wasn't able to accommodate all the inquires coming in on my own. That’s when we brought in our first employee. We've grown organically with every hire since to slowly become the talented, diverse team we have today to best meet the needs in our community.

Our Values

Teamwork/Collaboration: From the beginning, we have always emphasized a team approach and have regular team meetings. Much of therapy is done in isolation, but we know that we all do our best work when we work together. Having a sounding board is so helpful in providing the best care possible for our clients!

Learning/Growth: We can all learn from each other! We bring in outside speakers, share resources and conferences, and even share topics with each other. Dominic has talked to us about using genograms in sessions, Becca has shared about working with DID, Michele Fry reflected on how she uses the Pain cycle in sessions, and Megan has shared a framework to work through grief. Our DBT therapists and our couples therapists also get together regularly to get feedback from each other in small group settings. Learning about each other's specialties helps diversify and enrich our skills as therapists.

Authenticity: We strive to be authentic with our clients and with ourselves. We know therapy is hard work and we work to be our best selves to encourage others to do the same.

A Safe, Compassionate and Understanding Perspective: We show up in a compassionate way, with genuine understanding, and no judgement. We are curious, respectful, and patient. Always!
