Kyle Kennedy MSW LCSW
Life has a way of shifting our sense of self, especially when we are navigating the heavy fog of loss or the echoes of past trauma. I am a therapist dedicated to helping individuals find their footing again after life’s most difficult chapters. My approach is built on the belief that while we cannot change events of the past, we can absolutely change how we carry it moving forward.
As a Certified Grief Professional (CGP), I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space for those navigating bereavement, anticipatory grief, or life transitions. I understand that grief is not a problem to be "solved," but a process to be honored. Alongside this, as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), I am equipped to help you process "stuck" experiences, helping your nervous system move from a state of survival back into a state of safety after experiencing a distressing event.
In addition to trauma and grief/loss, I work with individuals who find themselves trapped in cycles of negative thinking or "brain noise." I use techniques used in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and challenge cognitive distortions—those persistent, unhelpful thoughts like "I’m not enough" or "things will never change."
By combining clinical expertise in trauma with the practical, goal-oriented tools of CBT, I help my clients bridge the gap between their emotions and their logic. Together, we will work to improve self-esteem, build upon existing strengths and develop new coping skills, process your experiences, and build a toolkit for a more grounded, resilient future.
I also have experience in working with addictions, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, caregivers and seniors, neurodivergence in teens and adults, individuals with ALS/Parkinsons and other chronic illnesses, as well as other health care professionals who seek therapy as a form of self-care. In addition, I as a veteran, have a deep connection to other veterans and their families’ facing issues and concerns related to their military service.
After serving multiple deployments over the course of six years in U.S.A.F as an aerospace maintenance journeyman on C-130 aircraft and as a security forces craftsman, I pursued my social work education in 2010 at Widener University. After graduating in 2013, I continued my education through acceptance into the advanced standing program for Temple University’s MSW program with a clinical concentration and graduated in the fall of 2014. Originally from Coatesville, I moved to Lancaster County in 2008 where my wife and I raise our 3 children. Navigating through the many different phases and changes of life can be very challenging at times, but I aim to collaborate with you to help navigate your own journey and challenges by providing the therapeutic approach and techniques best suited for your individual needs in order to uncover new and/or build upon skills you may already have.
