Carl Barnes LSW

It’s hard to express yourself in an environment full of expectations, bias, and judgment. Can you imagine how freeing and peaceful it is to not have to carry such heavy thoughts and emotions alone? My goal is to provide a safe, objective, and unbiased space to collaboratively manage negative thoughts, find solutions, and pursue healthier approaches and perspectives. As a team, we can work to build upon your strengths, restore trust, understanding, and closeness with yourself and others. It brings me so much joy to witness clients learn and implement skills that will allow them to reach their full potential.  I see clients in person at both our East Petersburg and Lancaster locations, and also offer online therapy.

I am a licensed Social Worker. I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work with a focus in trauma-informed care at Widener University. I’ve also been trained in Trauma Focused-CBT. Although I’ve found that my true passion lies in mental health, I additionally serve as a certified school social worker. First as an educator, and then in a clinical role, I have more than 11 years experience working with kids and teens.  My specialty includes working with children, adolescents, and young adults struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, drug and alcohol, grief, interpersonal relationships, and a plethora of other difficult social emotional matters. My availability consists of evening and weekend hours.

Above all, I’m a proud husband and father of three beautiful girls. I’ve played collegiate football and Track and field at West Chester University. I am also a certified personal trainer. When I’m not providing mental health services, I spend quality time with my family, coach high school sports, engage in physical activity of some sort, and read.
